Princess Diana of Themyscira wasn’t the world’s first female comic book hero, but she is – and may forever remain – the most famous. Before starring in a TV series, cartoons and hit Hollywood movies, Wonder Woman made her first appearance in All Star Comics No. 8, which hit newsstands in the fall of 1941. She later wowed readers when she had her feature debut in January 1942. The cover of that issue, Sensation Comics No. 1, declared the Amazon warrior “the sensational new adventure strip character.” The beloved superhero may not be new anymore, but eight decades on, she’s as sensational as ever. For proof, look no further than this roundup of Wonder Woman-related items from the Heritage Auctions archives – and this copy of the tough-to-find All Star Comics No. 8, coming up for sale in Heritage’s Nov. 18-21 Comics & Comic Art Signature® Auction.
