By Laura Kostelny | September 2, 2025
As the days get shorter and the temperatures cool, there’s nothing quite like snuggling up on a gorgeous sofa beneath flattering lighting while perusing beautiful photographs dedicated to top-drawer spaces. Not only do this fall’s selection of design books offer the opportunity to visit luxe rooms that normally lie behind closed doors, but they also come with plenty of insights and expertise from the talented professionals who created them. Here, we present a few titles that are sure to delight and surprise. Whether you’re looking to see just how large an American fashion designer lives (spoiler alert: very large!), wanting to focus on women’s contributions to interior design over the past 100 years, or seeking inspiration from top designers across the country, we’ve got you covered.
Hilfiger Homes
Authors: Tommy Hilfiger and Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger with James Reginato
Depending on your age, it’s very possible that fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger played a role in your youth. After all, his logo-emblazoned attire hung in all the cool kids’ closets back in the mid- to late 1990s, and he made regular appearances alongside his daughter Ally on the MTV show Rich Girls in the early 2000s. But even those who didn’t grow up with “Hilfiger” splashed across the front of their favorite sweatshirt will delight in touring seven of Tommy and wife Dee’s exceptionally appointed homes in locations that include Manhattan, Greenwich, Palm Beach, Miami, and Mustique. Vanity Fair writer-at-large James Reginato and noted photographer Douglas Friedman chronicle the jet-set couple’s approach to creating stylish residences that also exude warmth and hospitality, and intimate family photos reveal how the family lives and entertains within each space. Bonus: The foreword is written by none other than Anna Wintour. Available September 16. $75; Abrams Books.
Making Space: Interior Design by Women
Author: Jane Hall
There’s an antiquated saying that a woman’s place is in the home. Author Jane Hall agrees – with a caveat. Her new book is a testament to the incredible work women have done designing every square inch of residential – and commercial – spaces during the 20th and 21st centuries. The global survey of 250 female interior designers from more than 50 countries reveals the ways women have made their mark on the industry, whether with more-is-more maximalism or clean-lined minimalism and everything in between. The book is chock-full of project photographs, and while some of the featured designers are, well, household names – Dorothy Draper, Kelly Wearstler, Elsie de Wolfe, to name but a few – others have almost been forgotten to time until now. Available October 22. $59.95; Phaidon.
Design Reimagined: A Fresh and Colorful Take on Timeless Rooms
Author: Corey Damen Jenkins
Acclaimed New York City-based designer Corey Damen Jenkins’ first book, Design Remix, was such a hit that he has decided to return to the scene with a second. As Jenkins and his eponymous firm begin a new chapter, he celebrates with a little reminiscing. The noted interior designer’s latest tome celebrates 10 of his most exciting projects packaged within a peacock-printed case and gilded edges. While the locations range from Manhattan to the countryside, all the highlighted properties showcase Jenkins’ unique gift for balancing classic architecture, bold color combinations, a just-right mix of modern and classic furnishings, and powerful pattern play. More than just an homage to a pretty space, the book also features room-specific sidebars, as well as Jenkins’ warm voice, which takes readers through his approach to fine design throughout. Available September 2. $50; Rizzoli.
Interior Design Master Class: 100 Rooms: Lessons from the Finest Designers on the Art of Home
Author: Carl Dellatore
Sometimes the best way to find out how a room came together is to hear directly from the person responsible. To that end, author Carl Dellatore has reached out to Katie Ridder, Miles Redd, Suzanne Kasler, Bunny Williams, and a host of other top interior designers and asked them to write about some of their projects and the creative processes that helped them achieve their goals. Organized by type of room – living spaces, porches and entries, bedrooms and sitting areas, dining areas and bars, and kitchens and baths – the book is an elegant guide on how to live a stylish life in every square inch of your home. Available September 2. $60; Rizzoli.
The Refined Home: Sheldon Harte
Authors: Mitchell Owens and Hadley Keller
Interior designer Sheldon Harte’s notable projects along the West Coast have graced the pages of Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, and more. The properties range in size – from estates and compounds to beach houses, wine country retreats, and even apartments – and Harte specializes in bringing in a variety of styles in order to create environments that are truly tailored to each and every client. Authors Mitchell Owens and Hadley Keller have collaborated with Harte to share a behind-the-scenes look at the designer’s process and explore his philosophy for transforming interiors into works of art with chapters like “Sensual Surfaces,” “Breaking with Tradition,” “Modernist Masterpiece,” and “Mid-Century Dream.” The works of photographers such as Douglas Friedman, Trevor Tondro, Bjorn Wallander, and John Merkl also go a long way in showcasing Harte’s artistic vision. Available November 11. $75; Vendome.
