An original painting by H.R. Giger, a concept design for an unproduced script titled The Tourist, realized $325,000 in Heritage Auctions’ Sept. 26 sale The Guillermo del Toro Collection: Bleak House Part 1, establishing an auction record for the artist.
Offered from Guillermo del Toro’s famed “Bleak House” collection, the 1980s-era painting led a cross-category selection of screen-used props, concept art and original illustration that drew worldwide bidding. The auction totaled $1.65 million and signaled robust demand for genre-defining works connected to del Toro’s creative universe.
The result underscores Heritage Auctions’ position as a leading venue to sell H.R. Giger artworks and blue-chip fantasy and horror art.
