Spade features on the iconic cover by H.C. Murphy, introducing the five-part serialization of the classic detective novel. The Maltese Falcon was first adapted to film in 1931 and was most famously adapted in 1941 by director John Huston into the film noir classic starring Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade.

This exquisite Chinese tripod censer dated to the mid-Qing dynasty showcases the intricate and labor-intensive cloisonné technique. Its body displays the Eight Buddhist Emblems surrounded by lotus and scrolling foliage, and its shoulders are flanked by a pair of gilt dragon-form handles, with each dragon meticulously crafted with five claws, a symbol reserved for the emperor. The censer’s elegant form and luxurious materials reflect the high level of craftsmanship associated with imperial commissions.
