The 1870-CC Liberty double eagle is a landmark rarity in the popular series. Among Type Two double eagles, the 1870-CC is the rarest issue, both in terms of absolute and condition rarity. It represents the first year of coinage at the Carson City Mint and is the most desirable gold coin ever struck at the famous facility. The 1870-CC is unknown in Mint State, and Carson City specialist Rusty Goe estimates the surviving population at only 55 to 65 examples in all grades.

Only four pairs of ruby slippers used in The Wizard of Oz are known to have survived the 85 years since the making of the 1939 masterpiece. This is one of those pairs. In 2005 these shoes were famously stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and recovered by the FBI in 2018 following an investigation worthy of its own big-screen telling. Previously the slippers were part of collector Michael Shaw’s Hollywood on Tour during the 1980s and ’90s.
