Three choice lots from upcoming Heritage auctions
Comics
Featuring the first appearance of Captain Marvel, the premiere issue of Whiz Comics was an instant success, selling more than 500,000 copies. Despite the incredible popularity of the issue, the CGC census lists only 61 total copies, of which just 32 are unrestored. This copy of Whiz Comics’ debut is the highest-graded unrestored copy Heritage has ever offered. In fact, there is just one other copy graded CGC 7.0 and only two graded higher. Shazam!

Jewelry
The son of a watchmaker, Craig Drake crafted and sold jewelry for retailers including Tiffany & Co. before establishing his own company in Philadelphia, where he designed custom pieces for some of the highest-profile residents in the city throughout the 1980s and ’90s. Drake was known for his statement-making creations, like this 18k gold and enamel giraffe-inspired bangle. Round-cut emeralds stand in for the animal’s eyes, adding a sophisticated touch to the playful design.

Sneakers
The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Freddy Krueger could have been a killer release, but the Nightmare on Elm Street-themed sneaker never made it to market. Set to debut in 2007 as part of a Horror Pack alongside the Jason Voorhees Nike Dunk High and the Dawn of the Dead Nike Air Trainer One, the Freddy model fell prey to a cease-and-desist from the movie’s producers. A small number of the sneakers live on, however, complete with blood splatters and Freddy’s signature stripes.
