Editor Pick 1

For just the second time in its history, Heritage presents a sealed first production copy of The Legend of Zelda for the NES. This is the rarest and most sought-after variant of the first game in Nintendo’s landmark Zelda series. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the genius behind Donkey Kong and Mario, the groundbreaking game introduced iconic characters such as Link, Princess Zelda and Ganon. Coupled with Koji Kondo’s enthralling musical score, The Legend of Zelda was an instant classic.

Editor Pick 2

In the early days of 1964, Capitol Records embarked on a huge promotional campaign for Meet the Beatles!, a push that included sending window displays like this large cardboard stand-up to select radio stations and retail outlets. This seldom-seen example was on display at Al’s Record Mart in Detroit and features a famous Dezo Hoffmann photo of the band and a battery-operated mechanical device in the back that causes the die-cut heads of Paul, Ringo, George and John to sway back and forth.

International Comic Art

Editor Pick 3

Jean Frisano’s cover for 1981’s Strange No. 134 – featuring Marvel’s beloved Rom the Spaceknight – was among the centerpieces on display during 2020’s “Jean Frisano: From Tarzan to Marvel, Fantasized America” exhibition at the 47th Angoulême International Comics Festival. The Parisian artist’s mixed-media piece is as significant as it is striking, as it marked Rom’s European debut two years after the Parker Brothers toy landed in the comic book that ran until 1986 and reappeared on bookshelves last month as Rom: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus.
