A prize from one of the most important victories of Sam Snead’s career, this gold medal was awarded for his triumph at the 1946 Open Championship at St. Andrews, the first playing of golf’s oldest major after the long interruption of World War II. The achievement occupies a special place within Snead’s major championship record. It was one of seven career majors, joining three Masters titles and three PGA Championships, and it stands as the only Open Championship title of his career.

In this original painting for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Magazine, illustrator Earl Norem presents He-Man astride Battle Cat before the towers of Eternia, transforming Mattel’s enormous late-series playset into a distant stronghold rising above the mist. With his battle axe raised and shield ready, He-Man appears to charge directly out of the landscape while Battle Cat bounds across the rocky foreground. The image was published as a pull-out poster in the magazine’s Fall 1986 edition to promote the Eternia playset.

As the only certified sealed example of this variant in existence, this first-production copy of the original Mario Bros. is one of the most important video game collectibles ever discovered. In fact, no factory-sealed first-production copy of Mario Bros. has ever been offered at public auction. Released in February 1986, Mario Bros. traces its lineage to the landmark 1983 arcade game and Famicom port released later in ’83. The arcade original was the first to put Mario in a starring role and featured the debut of Luigi.
